Boracay

Boracay is a tiny bone-shaped tropical island in the Philippine archipelago, located in the Western Visayan region, province of Aklan and the municipality of Maly. The island is only 4.3 miles (7 kilometers) long, and at its narrowest spot, only 0.6 miles (1 kilometer) wide. Boracay is a prime vacation spot in Southeast Asia, and is known for beautiful scenery, gleaming powdery white sand, and crystal clear waters. Boracay was 3 times voted the world’s best tropical beach and many other international recognition including Yahoo, CNN etc.

White Beach boasts of world-class resorts, hotels, budget huts, restaurants, boutiques, Neilpryde windsurf and Kitesurf store and various forms of nightlife. A varied selection of cuisines is available, and not just available but really good restaurants and cafes including Café del Mar. This set up is due largely to the settlement of foreigners in the area in the 80’s and 90’s.
There is a world class golf course in the north of the island that offers a stunning 360 degrees view of the sorrounding islands.

The other interesting “to do” in Boracay is the experience from one of Asia’s multi awarded Mandala spa or Tirta Spa at the southern part of Manoc-manoc.

Also worth trying is paraw sailing. A paraw is a native sailboat used by native of Boracay and Malay for fishing and crossing from one island to another.

The other famous beach in Boracay is Bulabog beach, made popular by the homegrown event Boracay International Funboard Cup. The windsurfers from all ver the world started visiting Bulabog in the late 80’s because of its world class wind and the reef protected lagoon, shallow water, and consistent on or side on shore wind condition.
In the year 2002, Greenyard Funboard Center opened the first Hangin kite school in Boracay and kiteboarders from Europe and around the region flock to the island between November to March to enjoy the world famous kitesurfing spot that kiteboarders are dreaming about in the cold Europe. Hangin at Greenyard is the most ideal spot for beginners because it has the widest beachfront, less crowded and also the biggest land area of all kite schools on Bulabog.

To the north of White Beach is Diniwid, a relatively large cove. This beach may be reached by walking north on White Beach until the "grotto" and then crossing the "bridge" or taking a trike — similar to the Thai tuktuk — through inland streets. It is known for a more quiet atmosphere and is situated away from the crowds. Some hotels have nestled a few of their rooms up in the cliffs, which commands a stunning view of the area.

The last beach is Puka Beach, a comparatively empty strip of the same white sand and crystal clear waters. Puka Beach is situated near a marine sanctuary. There is a world class golf course in this part of the island that offers a stunning 360 degrees view of the sorrounding islands.
